We were struggling with generalized anxiety and emetophobia for about 9 months before finding Turnaround. Our 7 year old is very observant, introverted and sensitive. Part of what is helping has been changing schools to a much smaller class size and a less rigid teaching/learning style with less perceived pressure about school work and deadlines. The Turnaround program helped us understand our daughter better. What to enforce verbally about anxiety, when to gently push her to remain in psychological discomfort and when to just comfort her. The program helped her feel less ostracized. She understands that anxiety is something lots of kids are challenged with… and that challenge makes her who she is… in a positive way!!! The chill exercises and music are something we still use nightly even though things have mostly turned around. I know I can go through the program with her again if she needs reminders. The supportive words you will learn like “take the plunge” and “crank is getting cranked up” are something she totally gets and we can instantly reach her and remind her of the new tools she has when we use the Turnaround language. I recommend this program. Good luck! It’s so painful to see your kids suffer like this but there’s nothing wrong with them…. they just need to learn some valuable tools…. which may help them communicate more or you better understand what the message is which is being spoken through the anxiety. What are they trying to tell you? Help them calm down enough so that you can see it and understand.
